Day 3: January 7, 2019

Day three is the first full day of working for our crew. Most of us went to Corazon Creek to construct a playground for the students and to teach infant 1&2 and standards 1-6. These standards are like their version of 1st through 8th grade. Other teachers went to San Lucas and Blue Creek Villages. In Blue Creek (picture above), they learned about things from life cycles to food groups. Jill LaFata demonstrates a food web to them. At Corazon they learned about everything from rhythms to language arts. San Lucas was taught about things ranging from moon phases to air rockets. Throughout the week we will rotate and all of the students at each village will have an opportunity to learn all of the knowledge from all of our Crew’s teachers. Once we got back to the retreat center, we were joined by local priests for dinner. These priests visit each of the Catholic parishes in the villages through the St. Peter Claver parish in Punta Gorda. First day of service, completed and enjoyed thoroughly!
